Edit Panasonic Lumix camcorder video to Sony Vegas Pro 10

I have brought a Panasonic Lumix camcorder. I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 to edit. Will Sony Vegas Pro still work with the format AVCHD without having to convert to say AVI or whatever? I have the software installed. It used to work that I use that software to copy to my pc then to Sony Vegas but that isn't working anymore. What's wrong? Can I use Sony Vegas 10 to work with my Panasonic Lumix camcorder?
