1. Check out your Mac processor. If yours is older version of Intel-based, you may failed in importing MTS to iMovie, for older version of Inter-based Mac can't support AVCHD MTS file.

Step 1: Add MTS videos
Click the "Add File" button to browse your Mac hard disc and select the MTS videos you want to edit in iMovie.

Click the small down arrow at the very right of the "Profile" to open the Profile drop-up list to select iMovie video->iMovie MPEG-4 Movie File.
