Recently one of my friend consult me how to convert Sony AVCHD (.m2ts) to a nice .avi (XviD-AC3) because he wants to play them on a stand-alone DVD player that plays HD Xvid (in avi container) files. I sincerely think my friend to choose Xvid is extremely wise, for Xvid is such an excellent and open format container, you can see here:
1. Xvid can be used on all platforms including Mac, Windows and Linux and operating systems for which the source code can be compiled.
2. It is a free and completely open software distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
3. Since Xvid uses MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP) compression, therefore be decoded with all MPEG-4 ASP compliant decoders i.e. MPlayer, VLC, ffdshow or Perian.
4. Xvid encoded files can be written to a CD or DVD and played in some (not all) DivX compatible DVD players and media players.
The next let's go to the point that to convert M2TS to Xvid, to achieve this we need a professional third app to convert M2TS video to Xvid and Doremisoft M2TS to Xvid Converter is the ideal application which can easily convert all types M2TS files form ACVHD camcorders with amazing editing function, fully compatible with Windows 7, and it's very easy to use:
